Who we are

Who can use Probus
Businesses and individuals can both buy Probus. If you buy on behalf of a business, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it. Where these terms treat consumers differently — someone buying for purposes outside their trade, business or profession — they say so.
What you are buying
Baseline, £15 per repository. One automated security review of one repository, plus one further review of the same repository within 30 days. You get a score, every finding with its file and line, and a fix brief. The further review is included in the price of the first; it is not a separate purchase.
All prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout according to where you are. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. The contract between us is formed when your payment is confirmed.
Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer, you would normally have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. A review is delivered within minutes of payment, so before you pay we ask you to confirm that you want it to start straight away and that you understandyou lose the right to cancel once the review has been delivered. You cannot buy a review without that confirmation.
If you cancel before your review has been delivered — or if we cannot deliver it — we refund you in full. To cancel, write tohello@avatechnologies.org. Businesses do not have a statutory right to cancel, but the section on failed reviews below applies to everyone.
What this is, and what it is not
Probus is an automated review. It is the accessible middle layer between shipping with no checks at all and commissioning a full professional audit —it is not a replacement for one, and it is not a warranty that your program is secure.
No automated tool, including this one, catches everything. A review reflects what the engine found in the code as it stood at one commit, at one moment. If an issue surfaces later, that reflects the limits of a point-in-time review rather than a guarantee that was made and broken.
You remain responsible for your own code and for deciding what to ship. Findings are advisory. What that means for our liability is set out below.
Our liability
What we never limit. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your right to a service provided with reasonable care and skill.
Subject to that:
- We are not liable for losses caused by vulnerabilities a review did not find, or by what you or anyone else does with its findings.
- We are not liable for loss of profits, revenue, business, funds, tokens or other digital assets, or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, and not for loss that was not foreseeable.
- Our total liability to you for everything arising out of or in connection with Probus is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Verified
Verified status means a person at Ava reviewed the automated findings and wrote a summary. It is a review of the findings, not an exhaustive audit, and the sections above still apply. Verified requires an active subscription to remain listed, and we may remove a listing at our discretion.
If a review fails
If a review does not complete for a reason on our side, we re-run it automatically and you are not charged twice. If we cannot review a repository at all, we say so before taking payment. If something has gone wrong and you have been charged, write to hello@avatechnologies.org and we will sort it.
A review that finds nothing is a legitimate result and is not grounds for a refund — it is one of the two answers the review exists to give.
Your responsibilities
Connect only repositories you are entitled to share with us. Do not use Probus to review code you do not have permission to review.
Ending it
Uninstall the GitHub App at any time from your GitHub settings; that immediately ends our access. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and run to the end of the paid period. Badges and registry listings revert to a neutral state rather than anything that would flag a project for having stopped paying.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to a purchase is the one you agreed to when you made it; changes apply to purchases made after they are published.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
